Staff Positions

The Central Review is currently looking for creative and dedicated students to join the team! If you like what we do and are interested in getting more involved, please read the staff descriptions for more information.

Copyeditor

The main duties of copyeditors at Central Review includes review, revision, and communication. Each semester, we put out a publication at the close of the semester, so submissions are to be reviewed in the weeks prior. This typically will be an initial reading of all submissions in which copyeditors choose pieces for more focused review. Copyeditors will be in communication with creative writers to finalize changes and edits to submissions before they are placed in the magazine. Additionally, copyeditors may receive descriptions for visual art pieces that require grammatical or structural tweaking which will also require correspondence with the submitter.

It is essential that copyeditors have a keen eye in order to catch any grammatical errors in submitted work as well as have good communication skills in order to propose edits to submitters.

Public Relations

The main duties of those working with public relations are concerned with creating promotional material for upcoming events, magazine submission deadlines, or contests. Public relations staff will have access to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and be expected to keep up with consistent posting and communication. Occasionally, staff may also be tasked with communicating with businesses regarding event or fundraiser specifics.

3

Graphic Designer

The duties of the graphic designer mainly come at the end of each semester with the design and assembly of a readable and attractive magazine. Graphic designers are also welcome to assist public relations in any capacity when it comes to the design of promotional material to be used on social media, or in the design of new merchandise designs (must be approved by faculty).

4

Multimedia

The multimedia position(s) focuses on a small range of developmental and design-based tasks. Ideally, whoever holds this position has some degree of knowledge when it comes to web design and website functionality. This mainly will be in the form of maintaining and uploading to our website and working alongside the public relations staff members to create engaging online material. Those working on multimedia for Central Review are welcome to pitch new ideas to the EIC and give suggestions regarding the operation of the website.

General Staff

If you are unsure about a specific team or would like to gain experience with more than one team, individuals may be under the label of general staff.
